Restore chips and gaps, or change your smile’s entire shape and color with dental bonding from Benitez Dental Clinic.

Make Your Smile Brand New

Cosmetic dental issues such as chipped teeth, tooth gaps, and discoloration are nothing to be ashamed of. But it’s only natural to want that picture-perfect smile. That’s where dental bonding comes in.

Dental bonding (sometimes called composite bonding) uses the same composite resin used in composite fillings to repair and reshape teeth. This highly versatile and pain-free procedure allows our dentist to help you achieve your dream smile without the need for pricier treatments like veneers or orthodontics. The result is a whiter and more even smile that’s often even better than new. And even better– it’s completely reversible!

What To Expect During Your Dental Bonding Treatment

First, the teeth next to the ones getting the treatment are protected with a thin film of plastic called a dental matrix. This matrix protects adjacent teeth from any stray preparation gel or composite resin. Next, your doctor will carefully clean and dry your tooth and apply a mildly acidic gel for a few seconds to give the bonding a rough surface to adhere to.

Once the acidic gel is cleaned away and the tooth is dried again, the composite resin is applied.  To achieve a natural-looking finish, our dentist will pick a resin that matches the exact color of your teeth. Composite resin is applied in layers and a special blue light is used to cure each layer for maximum strength and durability.

As a final touch, our dentist will give your newly-bonded tooth a quick polish. Your fixed tooth will look so natural that you may even forget which one was repaired! We’ll make a note in your chart so that during your future exams, our dentist will give some special attention to the bonded tooth to check for any wear.

How Does Dental Bonding Stack Up To Other Cosmetic Treatments?

There are several options available for restoring teeth. Patients with tooth gaps sometimes opt for veneers, while those with cracked or chipped teeth may consider fillings. But dental bonding offers a few advantages over alternative treatments. Here are just a few:

  • Quick and Painless While fillings or dental veneers, are relatively straight-forward procedures, some drilling or reshaping is usually required to prepare the teeth for treatment. This is rarely the case with dental bonding. Very little, if any, of your natural tooth has to be removed in preparation. This makes the bonding procedure almost completely painless.
  • Low Cost More extensive cosmetic dental treatments, such as dental veneers and orthodontics, can come with a hefty price. And for good reason – more extensive changes call for a personalized treatment plan of greater complexity. However, dental bonding is a simple and low-cost treatment option for minor changes to a few teeth.
  • Perfect for Small Repairs For more in-depth smile alterations, you will benefit from more complex treatment plans. These may include dental veneers, dental crowns, or orthodontics. But for minor changes, like patching a chipped tooth, closing up small gaps, or a simple reshaping, composite bonding is the easiest and most elegant solution available.

Cost Of Dental Bonding In Hamilton

Dental bonding is used to address such a wide variety of dental issues that it is difficult for a doctor to provide an estimate without first examining your teeth and assessing your needs. For an accurate estimate, you’ll need to schedule a consultation at our Mississauga dental office. The following figures are general estimates.

Without insurance, the average dental bond costs between $300 to $600+ per tooth. Most insurance companies do cover dental bonding, especially if it’s needed to fix a chipped or damaged tooth. With insurance, expect to pay between $60 to $120.

When we’re determining the cost of your dental bonding treatment we look at these important factors:

  • How many teeth require bonding.
  • Whether or not any new x-rays are required.
  • How much composite resin is needed.
  • Where the teeth in question are located in your mouth.
  • Your overall oral health.

Remember, no dentist can give you an accurate quote over the phone. After an examination, we will provide you with an accurate quote in person, so you’ll know your final costs before the procedure.
